Lost and Found

“The Lost and Found Event” begins TODAY!

About a month ago, one of my official reviewers, Shelley, directed me to check out these amazing works of different authors compiled in one book. She was talking about the book “Lost and Found” edited by Kris Jacen and how it was published to support a great cause! All royalties from this anthology are being donated to Lost-n-Found Youth in Atlanta, Georgia. A wonderful charity working with these teens, helping them find their new place and get on their feet.

Shelley insisted that we should do something on the blog to spread the word and I was all up for it. After all, opportunity to help the ones who really need them comes rarely and I believe in grabbing such opportunity. This suggestion was shared with all the other reviewers as well and we all decided to buy a copy and do our bit. A plan was sketched out to turn this promotion into an event where the reviewers will review each of the stories included in the book, giveaway contests will be held everyday and some of the authors will be doing guest posts as well.

MLR Press has also decided to be included in this event and they have generously allowed me to host a giveaway contest for them! Like I have said, there will be a giveaway contest everyday from 16th to 23rd of June, 2013. The blog will be hosting these for the authors who have contributed to this anthology – who will be giving away either any of their books from their backlist (excluding Lost & Found, of course!) or their will be a giveaway of Gift Cards! MLR Press will choose a lucky winner from the entire lot who have participated in these daily contests and the winner will get to choose one from their HUGE backlist!

But remember, this is for a great cause, and we need to spread awareness. Tell your friends about this event, send them a link, post it on FB or share it on Twitter … get as many people as you can and do your bit. And yes, if you haven’t already, BUY THIS BOOK.

Because, it is worth it!

TITLE: Lost and Found

AUTHORS: MF Kays, TA Webb, Tabatha Heart, Dakota Chase, Caitlin Ricci, Jeff Erno, DC Juris, Michele L Montgomery, DH Starr, and Diane Adams

EDITOR: Kris Jacen

PUBLISHER: Featherweight Press

BLURB: Some statistics say that 40% of all homeless teens are GLBT. They’re on the streets after their families have thrown them away, told them that they don’t matter, that they’re not normal. Well, guess what? Those families are wrong. This collection of stories by ten talented authors spans the spectrum (historical, paranormal, transgender, cutter, gay) to show that – it’s okay, there are people out there that care, and these teens are perfect just the way they are.

Lost-n-Found is the outgrowth of Saint Lost and Found, an LGBT homeless youth fund project of the Atlanta Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.

Founded by Rick Westbrook, Art Izzard, and Paul Swicord after each of them experienced being turned away when attempting to place queer youth into local shelters and youth aid programs, the three resolved that something needed to be done to address the immediate need.

They called a public LGBT town hall meeting and invited these local homeless youth support agencies to express outrage and determine what resources existed. The meeting made clear that no organization was specifically actively working to take LGBT homeless youth off the street. Rick, Art, Paul and others assembled in November with the support of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence to establish a privately funded emergency shelter, and the Saint Lost and Found project (now Lost-n-Found Youth, Inc.) was born.
